Castle, Nathan Fillion and Dollhouse

New TV season is really getting going now. New TV! Returning TV! It’s all going on. Castle and How I Met Your Mother started their new seasons last night and while I’ll be jumping straight back into HIMYM (straight after I finish writing this in fact) but for some reason my excitement over Castle has waned. Don’t get me wrong it’s entertaining enough but I’m trying to cut the fat on TV this year, with Heroes being a victim. Castle may fall victim because, sadly, I just can’t be bothered! I may change my mind. I have the first episode. Let’s see if by this time next week I’ll have watched that and the second episode.

With The Neil Patrick Harris hosted Emmy Awards, which took place last night, today’s news is dominated by everything Emmy related. I don’t know enough of the Emmys and who was nominated and all that jazz but I’m very happy for the good people over at Mad Men have won the award for Best Drama and also Michael Emerson for his role on lost as the brilliant Ben! Sure True Blood may have got snubbed, but it’s a ‘fantasy’ show, what can we expect?

Tom Lenk joined the cast of Broadway’s Rock of Ages. He’ll be a six month engagement and will succeed Wesley Taylor as Franz. Check the link out for all the details. Tom’s been updating his Twitter on it a fair bit.

The FOX TCA party was a couple of nights ago and there’s been plenty of news from there, whether it’s just gossip or actual news. So lots of news bits are results of that party, today. As well as news and spoilers on Dollhouse, Neil Patrick Harris at the Emmys and more.

» David Boreanaz: A True Angel
Not so much news as a fan’s response to seeing David at the TCA Party. Apparently, she was a fan. Unfortunately, it seems now Angel can’t be mentioned without Twilight being mentioned in the same sentence.

» David Boreanaz on Bones Season 5
The fifth season of Bones has officially started in the USA and here David gives his opinions on the relationships that are going to be dealt with in the season. Beware of spoilers! Talking of spoilers Ausiello has some here. For the 100th episode.

» Dollhouse’s Joss Whedon: I don’t make hit shows, I make shows that stick around
The Q&A that Joss did as a conference call with a number of the people from the press. See also Cinema Blend’s run down of the conference call. Just a question – they’ve got some brilliant guest stars due to appear in season 2 – Jamie Bamber, Alexis Denisof, Michael Hogan, Summer Glau and Ray Wise to name but a few. Let’s hope these brilliant actors don’t show up a certain leading lady.

IGN post their thoughts on Vows, the first episode of the second season of Dollhouse. It’s almost a positive review, which it still points out that the weakest thing about the show is Eliza. Someone give someone else the lead in the show!

Hello Friday! It’s my last working day before I go off on holiday and possibly the last day of ‘proper’ news. I’ll hopefully be posting another ‘highlights’ of my upcoming first time at Comic Con. Anyway, not to bring you down, here’s the news:

Morning Friday! Dollhouse, Comic Con and Anthony Head

I think this Friday has taken longer to come then usual Fridays. Well it’s finally here, a nice weekend to be had, just make it through today! There is some good news in today’s news for any Whedon fan going to this year’s San Diego Comic Con. I can happily say I’m going to be there too! Yep, coming from the UK to see the madness of Comic Con and maybe try and catch a few panels too.

Mostly an all Dollhouse topical interview style article with Joss with some words on season 2 and the Buffy movie that’s floating out there.

» Dollhouse Mega Panel at Comic Con
Not only is Dollhouse having a panel at this year’s SDCC. It’s going to be having a massive 2 hour panel with a screening of Epitaph One followed by a Q&A with Joss and Eliza – the only two guests at the panel. It will be taking place on the Friday. I think I’ll be there, I’ll try maybe!

Renewals and Cancellations

Everything is definitely definite now. On Friday there were rumblings that Dollhouse had been renewed for a second season and those rumours were confirmed shortly after. Then came some more good news for Nathan Fillion with Castle being renewed for a second season, also despite flagging ratings. And some news which tipped me over the excitement edge – Chuck getting renewed for another season, allbeit a shorter one with an option on more episodes.

Sadly The Sarah Connor Chronicles didn’t get any such luck. Sucks. Sure it was a longshot, but thought it might have been a better bet, in the long run, than Dollhouse. What with post Terminator Salvation movie hype? Maybe not.

Still Chuck’s here to stay, for a little while longer, and that’s all I really cared about! So with that on with the news and some news bits about renewals, cancellations and more.

Slow news day – Joss, Dollhouse, Caprica

Bit of a slow morning. Though I was amused when listening to the radio on the way to work. XFM’s Alex Zane picked up on the 10 ten Sci Fi TV Theme Tunes list. He did mention Buffy and played a snippet, however it wasn’t the original Nerf Herder one, sounded like musac! Though another DJ there didn’t recognise it and when told thought Buffy was just for teenage girls. *sigh* Still not lost it’s stereo type! Anyway here’s today’s news.
